A single panel swap looks simple on paper: unbolt the damaged section, bolt in a new one, done. The catch is matching it. Garage door manufacturers change panel profiles and colors over time, and a door built in the late 1990s or early 2000s - which covers a good share of Saginaw's housing stock - may use a panel profile the maker has since discontinued or altered slightly. Order the wrong width or rib pattern and it won't seat right against the neighboring sections, even if it bolts on. There's also real risk in the work itself: pulling a torsion-spring door apart with the spring still loaded, or working a panel loose while the opener is still connected, is how people get hurt. We're not going to tell you it can't be done by a careful homeowner with the right tools, but we will tell you that if you can't get an exact panel match for your door's age and brand, you're better off calling before you order anything.
